According to the Central dispatching management of a fuel and energy complex, Russia in January-February, 2009 has reduced a gas production in comparison with the similar period of 2008 to 13,3 % - to 103,8 billion cubic metre. In February the gas production in comparison with January was reduced to 9,7 %, and in comparison with February of last year - on 14,1 %.        

Company "Gazprom" has made 84,56 billion cubic metre of gas that on 15,9 % there are less than indicators of January-February, 2008. Gas deliveries for limits of Russia for two months of this year were reduced to 41 % - to 23,95 billion cubic metre. In February export of gaz has made 11,6 billion cubic metre.

 In the absence of the contract for 2009 "Gazprom" has stopped since January, 1st, 2009 of delivery of gas to Ukraine, but has continued to deliver "Naftogazu" transit gas for Europe. According to "Gazprom", this gas did not reach the European consumers, and the gas holding has stopped deliveries of the Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine on the night of January, 7th. Transit has been renewed on January, 20th after the arrangements reached at level of prime ministers of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, and signing of contracts between "Gazprom" and "Naftogazom".

As a whole for two months transit has decreased for 53,2 percent that can be connected not only with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but also with the general economic crisis because of which the majority of the EU countries recessions were able to. Hence, the EU countries began to consume less fuel, as has affected transit.
