The term ecology is defined as “the study of how living beings interact with their environment,” but that’s not where the term comes from. It was originally created out of two ancient Greek words: oîkos ('home') and -logía ('study of.') When you hear the terms “eco-friendly” or “eco-conscious,” you may not realize this all starts with your oîkos, or home. Ancient people undetsood a truth that in modern times we too often forget — nature isn’t just something found outside, it’s something found within. In this spirit, we at ekologe honor the ancient concept of oîkos by including the k in our name.

The double-e’s in ekologe stand for “energy efficiency” because the ghe greatest individual impact you may ever have to decrease your carbon footprint, reduce pollution, and preserve plant and wildlife for future generations, starts with your home or workplace utility consumption. We can increase your overall energy-efficiency through green energy services, such as roofing, hvac, windows, insulation, or solar; our general construction practices include directing you toward ethically sourced, eco-friendly finishes for your new build, remodel, kitchen, or bathroom.

There is a visual harmony to the word ekologe and our intention is to bring that balance to your home. We’ll be the first to tell you that construction in general can be loud, even messy, but that doesn’t mean your project’s management or final product should be. Our ethos is to leave every home or workplace—no matter the size—more beautiful, comfortable, and sustainable than before.
